Pizza Scrolls

Pizza Scrolls/Snails | Rating: 4/5 | Difficulty: Easy These scrolls are an amazing party food, and are easy to make and cook. It is a relaxing recipe that you are able to freeze and change the recipes. Makes: 20. Prep Time: 10 mins. Cook Time: 10 mins. Ingredients: For the dough (or you can instead use defrosted puff pastry): 1 cup SR flour 1/3 cup thickened cream 1/3 cup lemonade For the topping: 1 tbsp tomato paste 25g ham, chopped 1 mushroom, diced 1/4 cup capsicum, diced 1/2 cup cheese, grated  Method: 1. Preheat oven to 180-200°C. 2. Tip flour into the bowl, add the cream and lemonade and mix with the spatula. 3. Put dough on bench and roll until about ½ cm thick, but don’t over roll, as this makes it tough. 4. Using the spatula, smooth out the tomato paste over the dough, then place remaining toppings, right to the edge. 5. Then, roll up the pizza, and cut each slice a fingers width apart. Sausage Rolls

Sausage Rolls, Type A | Rating: 4/5 |Difficulty: Easy/Medium These sausage rolls are a great party food or emergency dinner. You can freeze them, refridgerate them, or eat them as appetizers! Makes: 24. Prep Time: 10 mins. Cook Time: 15-20 mins. I ngredients: 2 sheets puff pastry 300g sausage meat 1/2 medium carrot 1/4 medium onion 1/4 cup chopped parsley Salt and pepper to taste Egg and milk glaze (1 egg beaten into 1Tb (20ml) milk) Method: 1. Grate the carrot, and dice the onion. 2. Empty meat into a large bowl and add vegetables and salt + pepper. Mix. 3. Cut the 2 sheets of puff pastry in half down the middle and place the sausage mixture in a line down the middle. Roll the thing up and squeeze at joining ends. 4. Brush glaze over the roll (and sprinkle sesame seeds), then cut into 4 cm slices and place on tray. Cook in a 200C oven for 15-20 minutes. 5. Take out of the oven when golden brown and let cool.

Cheese Toasties

Cheese Toasties | Rating: 5/5 | Difficulty: Easy This is a cheese toastie... but unlike you've seen! Finely grilled, and strings of cheese fly loose as you crunch into it. Serves: 2. Prep Time: 2 mins. Cook Time: 5 mins. Ingredients: 2 slices bread 30g grated cheese 1/2 egg *Optional* 4 tomato slices 1/4 onion, diced Salt and pepper, to taste Parsley Mushroom, diced or sliced Method:  1. Turn griller on, at 180°C. 2. Mix the cheese, egg, and selected vegetables and salt & pepper except for the tomato and parsley together. 3. Lightly toast the slices of bread. Spread 1/2 the mixture onto each slice, and place the slices of tomato on each slice of bread. 4. Grill until all the cheese is melted and set, then take out of oven/grill. 5. Place on a plate, and garnish with tomato or parsley. Serve!

Chocolate Fudge Cake

Chocolate Fudge Cake | Rating: 4/5 | Difficulty: Hard This cake is wonderful, with more flavour then the chocolate cake. When you bite it you meet barely any resistance, and your teeth just sink in.  Makes: 1. Prep Time: 20 mins. Cook Time: 35-45 mins. Ingredients: 225g of margarine/butter 1 cup (250mls) of water 3 tbsp (heaped) of cocoa powder 2 cups sugar 2 cups plain flour 1/2 tsp salt 2 tsp vanilla 2 eggs 1 tsp bicarb soda 1/2 cup milk Method:  1. Heat butter, water, and cocoa until melted. 2. Then mix in the sugar, flour, and salt. 3. Add the vanilla, eggs, bicarb soda, and milk. 4. Pour into a greased cake tin, and bake in a moderate oven for 35-45 minutes until cooked. Chocolate Icing Ingredients: 85g butter 3 tbsp cocoa 85g icing sugar Method:  1. Cream together ingredients, then spread on cake.

Chocolate Spiders

Chocolate Spiders | Rating: 5/5 | Difficulty: Easy These crunchy, easy to make, tasty fritters are, delicious. It takes nearly no time to cook. M1akes: 30. Prep Time: 5 mins. Refrigerator Time: 2 - 4  hours. Ingredients: 375g packet chocolate  1/4 cup peanut  butter  200g packet fried noodles Method:  1. Place chocolate and peanut butter in the microwave bowl, then microwave on medium for 30-second intervals and stirring to prevent burning. Repeat until melted. 2. Blend noodles into chocolate. 3. Place heaped spoonfuls onto the baking tray, and refrigerate.

Yummy Waffles

Waffles | Rating: 4/5 | Difficulty: Hard These tasty waffles can be anywhere from dark and crispy or light and fluffy. You can freeze these or eat them on the spot with a drizzle of maple syrup. Yum yum! Makes: 8. Prep Time: 10 - 15 mins. Cook Time: 20 mins. Ingredients: 1 3/4 cup flour 2 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 tbsp castor sugar  3 eggs, separated (to separate eggs, check out our post on separating eggs) 7 tbsp vegetable oil 1 1/2 cups milk Method:  1. Sift dry ingredients into bowl, add yolks, milk and oil and beat until there are no lumps. 2. Beat egg whites to stiff peaks, then fold into mixture. 3. Put 1/2 cup of mixture onto preheated waffle iron to make a 9" round waffle.

Buttermilk

Buttermilk Recipe | Easy Ever been about to make those pancakes, but then... horror! shock! You have no buttermilk! Well here's an easy recipe to make this buttermilk so that you can get on with frying the cakes of the pan! Makes: 1 cup buttermilk (can double). Prep Time: < 1 min. Cooking Time: 0 min. Ingredients: 1 tsp vinegar  1 cup milk Method: 1. Mix together all ingredients. Done!

Basic Pancakes

Basic Pancakes | Rating: 4/5 | Difficulty: Easy These basic pancakes are a cheap and tasty breakfast, lunch or dinner! There are other variations at the bottom. Makes: 10. Prep Time: 5-10 mins. Cook Time: 10 mins. Ingredients: 1 cup flour 1 egg 1 cup milk 1 tsp butter Method: 1. Mix flour and egg, then slowly add the milk until a smooth paste. 2. Scoop about 1/8 cup of batter and tip onto a hot frying pan with butter/margarine. 3. Fry for about 2 minutes or until the bottom is golden brown. Then flip and cook for a further 1 minute. Repeat for remaining batter, then serve. Variations: Buttermilk Pancakes |  Rating: 5/5 | Difficulty: Medium Makes: 5. Prep Time: 10 mins. Cook Time: 15 mins. Ingredients: 1 cup self-raising flour (or add 2 tsp baking powder to 1 cup 1/2 cup castor sugar 1 egg (2 tbsp vegetable oil (optional but recommended)) 1 cup buttermilk (see our buttermilk recipe, or simply add 1 tsp vinegar to 1 cup normal milk)

Fresh Lemonade

Fresh Homemade Lemonade | 5 / 5 This freshly squeezed lemonade is a thirst quencher for the hot summer months. Serves 2. Prep time: 2 mins. Cook time: 0 mins. Ingredients: 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice 1/2 cup caster sugar 3 cups water Method: Mix together until the sugar is mostly dissolved, then serve! Note: It is recommended to refrigerate before serving.
